Our Music Teacher holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education.
She conducts music classes will all our classrooms for one-half hour daily. She provides a wide variety of musical experiences
which includes all types of songs -- songs for melody, dynamics, beat, tempo, register (high and low), duration (long and
short), call and response and rounds. Her area of concentration was vocal music so she is especially interested in assisting
the children to find their "singing" voice". Many songs and instrumental pieces are centered around an
upcoming holiday or other seasonal emphasis which coordinates with other classroom activities developed by the classroom teachers.
Creative movement activities are also an important part of the young child's experience with music expression.
At this age they involve their whole bodies in music enjoyment. Creative movement using accessories such as streamers,
scarves, etc. and musical games and dance are important in their total musical experience.
The teacher uses keyboards
to teach pitch and tone, and to expose the children to musical scales. Apple School has a significant collection of
rhythm instruments, such as rhythm sticks, bells, tambourines, maracas, and a large variety of drums, which enables each child
to participate in creating music. By using instruments, each child gains knowledge of beat, tempo and group effort toward
producing a pleasing sound.
Our goal at Apple School is to provide the fundamentals for a lifelong love of music.
